Information available at your fingertips......
November 21, 2006
It's not often that you can get something for nothing but in this case it's absolutely true! The school district subscribes to a number of online encyclopedias and informational databases. These can legally be offered for students to use at home- for free! Students who need information for a report or who are just plain curious can use the encyclopedias, full-text newspaper articles, full-text magazine articles and more! Click on "Media Center" on the left column of the district website. You will see a listing of the various databases available. Infotrac is primarily magazine articles, Proquest is mainly newspaper articles. The Americana encyclopedia, Grolier's encyclopedia, Lands and Peoples and the Book of Popular Science are all encylopedias. Access to each of the databases requires a user name and password. In the media center we have these printed and available. Simply ask for a copy of the passwords in the media center and you can get them for all the databases. Take advantage of these great resources- for free!
