It is Time to Get Outside

The spring snowstorms caused all kinds of problems at school. The make-up days, disrupted both the prom and after prom party. Many of the spring activities that were postponed have been cancelled because there were no dates available on the schedule.
The good news is that the weather has changed and the students have been able to go outside to practice and play. It is always fun to see the change in emotions of students and staff when the sun shines and the weather warms. Everyone seems to have more energy.
This is a great time of the year to take an evening off and go to a baseball, softball or track event. Golf is also competing, but it is a difficult sport to watch as a fan in the stands. Most all of the teams are playing two or three times a week. The school web site has all of the activities listed on the district calendar (www.osakispublicschools.org). I usually click on the calendar menu item, “Month at a glance” because I think it is easier to view.
This is a great time of the year to go for a walk or drive in the country. There are many different varieties of birds and waterfowl in the area. However, the bird watching will not last long because many of the migrating birds, ducks and geese will leave the area and continue north as the ice melts.
Do not forget to put the high school band and choir concert on your schedule. The concert will be in the auditorium on Monday, April 30 at 6:30 p.m.
