Elementary presents spring musical and art show

May 07, 2008

Mark your calendars for Thursday, May 22, the date of the elementary musical and art show! First, grades K-6 will perform in the afternoon beginning at 1:30. Later, the evening performance is divided with K-3 performing at 6:30 and 4-6 performing at 7:15. Grades K-3 will perform a variety of music and grades 4-6 will perform the musical Dreamcatcher. "Sioux Indian legend says that a dreamcatcher hung over a bed or cradle would catch the bad dreams and let good dreams pass through, bringing peaceful sleep to those resting below it. Throughout history, more and more Native People have incorporated the dreamcatcher into their lore and their patterns of living. In this musical, we attempt to celebrate the precious dreams of children of all ages. We use the image of the dreamcatcher to encourage all to protect these fragile dreams and help them come true."(John Jacobson)
In conjunction with the elementary musical, students will further display their artistic talent at the annual elementary art show, also held on Thursday, May 22. The show will run from 5:30- 9:00 P.M. Don’t miss this fun, entertaining evening of creative talent!
