The Osakis Chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is looking for youth willing to start an adventure in FCCLA.  Membership is open to student grades 7th – 12th.  We meet about once a month for meetings and there is usually another gathering each month for fun, community service work, or a workshop concerning STAR Events.

STAR Events and Community Service is at the heart of FCCLA.

RecycleBabysitting during parent-teacher conferences, recycling the paper in the school, helping with the Kindness Retreat and sponsoring the 30 Hour Famine to help support needy children and combat child hunger are community service projects that the chapter usually does.

STAR Events are individual or team projects that members develop based on their interests or concerns related to family and consumer sciences.  The projects are presented in front of a panel of judges at regional meetings, and may advance to state; and  if you worked really hard to thoroughly plan and carry out the goals in your project, you may even earn a trip to nationals!

Involvement in FCCLA offers members the opportunity to expand their leadership potential and develop skills for life – planning, goal setting, problem solving, and interpersonal communication – necessary in the home and workplace.

The time is now!  The 2008-09 Osakis Executive Council of Robbie Alverson, Kari Ludwig, Laura Zerr, Samantha Massmann and Advisor Connie Ferris would love to answer your questions about starting your adventure in FCCLA.

(Dues for 2008-09 are now $30.  Dues cover the state and national dues, STAR Event Fee and one regional meeting.)
