Why see a counselor?

    ACADEMICS--Grades, classes, schedules, teachers, etc.

CAREER--College admissions, scholarships/financial aid, career investigating, military contacts, job seeking, future planning, goal setting

    SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL--Friends, family, tough stuff

My Background:

Growing up in New York Mills, I appreciate the advantages of living in a small community.  I graduated in 1994 and attended Concordia College, completing a degree in Secondary Education/English.  I taught 7th grade Language Arts for a year in southern Minnesota, then moved out to Hawaii to teach 6th-8th grade English.  After getting engaged to my husband Leonard who was stationed on Oahu in the Navy, we moved to Colorado (his home state) and remained there for four years.  I taught middle school language arts while earning my Masters in Educational Counseling, with eventually becoming a high school counselor.  I spent three years as the K-12 counselor in Battle Lake before arriving in Osakis in 2007.

My husband Leonard is a Network Administrator in the IT department at Alexandria Extrusion.  Our son, Ethan, will be two years old this fall.  He is an amazing person, and a wonderful addition to our lives.  Our yellow lab, Nellie, is enjoying life in the lakes country as well.
