American History - Class Introduction

by Chris Stroup

May 23, 2008

Here is where, hopefully, I will be placing assignments, getting information out to you, and possibly even sharing my notes with the class.  I also plan to have the option for you to submit your assignments online, or certainly you can always email them to me at cstroup@osakis.k12.mn.us.

I have heard that many of you are concerned about the class.  To some degree, you should be, it is a college level class.  On the other hand, if you can read, write effectively (if you can't, I will teach you), gather an opinion, and express yourself verbally, class will be just fine.

What I want to get across to you right now is what you need in the line of supplies.  I want you to have a three ring binder and loose leaf paper.  The binder should probably be a minimum of 1", color does not matter.  Paper is up to you as to whether it is narrow (college) or wide lines, does not make a difference to me.  The binder is to keep a checklist of assignments and grades, the class syllabus, and hopefully your notes.  The paper is for your notes, and loose leaf will probably work better, so that if you miss a day, copies can be made and you can fit them in to where they belong.  If you prefer a notebook, then obviously the loose leaf is not necessary.

I am excited about this class and looking forward to what we will be able to do, I hope you are too.

Mr. Stroup
